Falconpaw sat with Clockpaw, Tigerpaw, and Goldenpaw. She had had so much fun today with her mentor, Splashfeather. They had learned the territory today, and then Falconpaw had begged Splashfeather to let her learn how to catch a mouse. So Splashfeather had taught her. “I learned the territory today,” Clockpaw meowed, “I’ll be a much better warrior then Tigerpaw.”
“I learned the territory too,” Tigerpaw taunted to one-up Clockpaw, “But you probably only learned a puny bit, Clockpaw.” Clockpaw glared at him.
“I learned the territory too,” Goldenpaw meowed quietly, glancing nervously at Tigerpaw.
“Well, I learned the territory and how to hunt a mouse!” Falconpaw meowed.
“Yes, it probably was a puny one,” Tigerpaw jeered.
“No, it was huge. In fact, it’s the one that you just ate, Tigerpaw,” Falconpaw meowed.
Tigerpaw looked as though he was going to be sick.
Serves him right! Falconpaw thought. Clockpaw giggled. Dovefeather yawned at the nursery entrance. Clockpaw’s pale mother was expecting another litter, so she was still a queen. Dovefeather went into the nursery. Falconpaw felt drowzy, so she and the other apprentices went into the apprentices den and to their nests. Tigerpaw started snoring emmidetly. “Today was a good day,” Falconpaw murmured before falling asleep.

Falconpaw was shaken awake by Splashfeather.
“Wha…?” Falconpaw murmured, but then shook of the drowzyness. Get up! It’s your mentor! Falconpaw thought.
“Falconpaw, you should go help in the elders' den,” Splashfeather meowed.
“Yes, Splashfeather,” Falconpaw meowed.
She padded into the Elders den. Clockpaw was stretching in front of the apprentices den, Dovefeather was sunning herself in front of the nursery, and Loststar was gazing down at the Clan from the Highpeak. Falconpaw nodded a good morning to Goldenpaw, who was at the front of the medicine den. Goldenpaw padded over to Falconpaw. “I’m going to collect herbs,” she meowed, “will you tell Loststar if he asks?”
“Sure,” Falconpaw meowed.
“Thanks.” Goldenpaw padded away.
Falconpaw padded into the elders' den. She changed their bedding, took out their ticks, and then sat down.
“Falconpaw, have you heard of StarClan?” Jetfeather asked.
"A little,” Falconpaw admitted.
“StarClan are the ones that deliver prophecies to medicine cats. Sometimes to leaders. And rarely,” Jetfeather paused, “they deliver them to cats who aren’t either of those.”
“What does it mean, to have one delivered to you, even if your not the leader or the medicine cat?” Falconpaw asked.
“It means that cat is special,” Jetfeather replied.
Falconpaw padded out. Jetfeather's words were stuck in her head. It means that cat is special.

Falconpaw was wandering in the forest with her sister Demonpaw.
"I can't believe we were allowed to go out hunting on our own!" she exclaimed.
Demonpaw nodded.
Falconpaw walked away, and sniffed the air. She could smell a mouse!
Crouching, Falconpaw carefully stalked the small brown creature. Almost got it...
Suddenly she heard a rustle in the bushes. A familiar voice screeched. Demonpaw!
Falconpaw ran beside her sister. A Twoleg was there.
The Twoleg pulled out something shiny and dropped it on Demonpaw, stabbing her in the neck. Demonpaw screamed and the Twoleg ran away. Falconpaw gasped, panting. She ran back to camp.
“Loststar!” Falconpaw called desperately.
“Yes?” hissed Loststar.
“It’s Demonpaw…she’s dead!!” Falconpaw cried. Everyone froze.
“Excuse me? She’s what?” meowed Clockpaw.
"Dead!” whined Falconpaw.
"No!" Songfeather rushed over to her daughter. "She can't be!"
Loststar froze in horror. “Tell me everything!”
